Although the daily news is filled with rhetoric and opinion dealing with the upcoming presidential election, the fight to preserve the ideals of conservatism, personal freedom and limited government intervention starts right here in our own state and county. Hopefully, you have had a chance to hear and talk to some of our local candidates at recent political gatherings throughout the county. If not, please take some time to research their campaign websites and become an informed voter. The following lists many of the candidates that will appear on the November 8th, 2016 General Election ballot in races of interest to Polk County voters. As previously mentioned, general elections take place throughout the state and across the country on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Early voting in Polk County starts on Saturday, October 29th and runs through the following Saturday, November 5th. Click HERE for a list of early voting locations in Polk County.

Vote-by-mail ballot requests must be received by the Supervisor of Elections (SOE) office by 5:00 pm on Wednesday, November 2nd, and the completed mail-in ballots must be returned to the SOE office by 7:00 pm on election day. Therefore, it is recommended that they be mailed on or before Friday, November 4th. Please do your part to keep strong, conservative leadership in control of our state and local government.
