Updated November 5, 2026. Final candidate lists will be available closer to each election.
Which elections can you vote in?
It depends on where you live, not just the city in your mailing address. You must live within city limits to vote in city elections. All Polk voters can vote for County Commission and School Board seats, even when candidates must live in a particular district. Congressional and legislative contests depend on your district.
Use Polk’s official lookup to check your registration and polling place. Check your sample ballot with the elections office when it is published. This page does not collect or store your address.

What we’re still waiting for
Some cities still need to confirm dates and offices. Some judicial races, district seats and referendum questions also need confirmation. Open “Sources & details” on each card to see what is known and what is still pending.
Polk’s elections office will publish early-voting locations and hours and vote-by-mail deadlines. Confirm those details before making voting plans.
Does my party matter in a primary?
Yes. In Florida, you normally must be registered with a party by the deadline to vote in its primary. If every candidate for an office belongs to the same party and the winner will have no opposition in November, all voters can vote in that race. Voters with no party affiliation or a minor-party affiliation can vote in the nonpartisan races and ballot questions available to them.
The March presidential primary is separate from the August primary. Only voters registered with the party holding it can participate. If a party has just one certified candidate, it does not hold that primary; the exception above does not apply.
Circuit and county judges run without party labels. For appellate and Supreme Court judges, you vote yes or no on whether they stay in office. Polk is in the Tenth Circuit and Sixth District Court of Appeal. This calendar does not recommend how to vote in judicial elections.
Community development districts (CDDs) limit resident-elected seats to voters living within the district. Landowner votes are held separately and weighted by acreage. The Lakeland Downtown Development Authority (LDDA) also has its own rules about who can vote.
