What we collect, and only when you send it

Nothing here asks you to create an account, and reading the site collects nothing about you. Information reaches us only when you choose to submit one of the forms.

• Contact form — your name and email, optionally your phone, city and ZIP, and the subject and message you write.
• Volunteer form — the same, plus which kinds of work interest you and when you are available.
• Membership application — the same, plus your street address. That one is required: committee membership is organized by precinct, and your precinct is determined by where you live. Voter ID number and how long you have been registered are optional.
• Homepage updates form — your name and email, optionally a ZIP and a phone number. Email updates are the purpose of that form. Texts are only if you tick the SMS box.
• Community event submission — the event details, your organization, and a contact name, email and phone that we do not publish.

Where it goes

Everything you submit is stored first in the committee's own records, and that stays the authoritative copy. Officers are notified so a person actually sees it. That notice includes what you submitted, including your address and any voter ID or written answer, so someone can act without logging in.

Your name, email and phone may also be used with the tools we use to keep in touch — email, texts, and related communications. With that goes a small amount of context: your city and ZIP, and depending on the form, your volunteer interests, your precinct, or the organization you represent. Those tools may change; this page covers any of them.

What stays in the committee's own records

Your street address is not shared with our communications tools. Neither is the text of your message, your voter ID number, or anything you write in a notes or motivation field. Those stay in the committee's own records and in the officer notice described above.

Being contacted is separate from being subscribed

Writing to the committee does not subscribe you to anything. You join our email list only if you tick the box that says so — and the exact wording you agreed to is stored with your submission, so it can be shown back to you later. Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link.

Texts are a separate choice. The homepage updates form, and the contact, volunteer, and membership forms, have an optional SMS box next to the phone field. It is never pre-checked, and you can send the form without ticking it. If you do tick it, you are agreeing to political text messages from the Polk County Republican Executive Committee. Message frequency may vary. Standard message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help. We will not share mobile information with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes. Donations may be solicited. The exact wording you agreed to is stored with your submission.

Your mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes. We will not share your opt-in to an SMS campaign with any third party for purposes unrelated to sending you those texts. We may share your information, including SMS opt-in or consent status, with the communications tools that help us deliver messages — platform providers, phone companies, and other vendors who assist in sending texts. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties for marketing.

What the website itself records

We use a privacy-friendly analytics tool that counts page views without cookies and without building a profile of you. This site sets no cookies on its public pages.

To stop automated abuse of the forms we keep a one-way cryptographic hash of the sending IP address rather than the address itself, and use it only to count submissions from the same place within a short window. The address itself is never written down.

How long we keep it, and how to have it removed

We keep what you send until you ask us to remove it. There is no automatic deletion schedule. We do not sell, rent or trade your information to anyone.

To see what we hold, correct it, or have it deleted, email us and say so — we will remove you from the committee's records and from the tools we use to contact you. Unsubscribing from email or texts is faster: use the link in any email, or reply STOP to a text.

Children

This site is intended for adults taking part in the political process. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

If this changes

This page is maintained alongside the code that handles your information, so a change to one is a change to the other. The date above is when it was last reviewed.
